Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipThe world's really changing and we're spending more and more of our time in digital spaces like Twitch, like YouTube, like Instagram and social media.
I think that Break the Game is a great place to start to investigate some of these key questions about digital life.
Is having that connection just online enough?
And I'd really love for audiences of Break the Game to grapple with that question and to have a deeper understanding of how the time spent in those spaces can really affect our emotional and mental health.
When I started making Break the Game , I really wanted to make a nuanced view of what contemporary digital life is like that neither sensationalized online experiences nor shied away from the darker side.
I had never really seen the experiences that I had online represented in film in what felt like an authentic way.
So I really hope that those who see Break the Game will feel seen, feel validated, feel like they can empathize with Narcissa, with D-Girl, and with her experiences.
